This cookie policy shall be intended as part of the Privacy Policy set out above. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identifier installed directly on the hard disk of a user’s device when the user visits a website.

All information collected indirectly shall be used exclusively to monitor the volume, type, and pattern of traffic using this website in order to facilitate surfing and create attendance statistics and for other administrative purposes, as well as, more generally, to improve the services offered by the website.

Users can disable the installation of cookies by changing their browser settings or at the following link.

What are cookies for?

Cookies have various functions. They may enable websites to recognise a user when they visit the website due to a unique identifier. Moreover, they also enable the website to memorise user’s actions and preferences, such as the language of the website, the size of characters and other view settings for a certain amount of time, so that the user does not have to enter such data again whenever they visit the website or surf the website pages.

Who can save cookies and access information?

Cookies are managed by the user’s device. A website can only read and record its own cookies (first-party cookies). However, a web page often contains information from several websites, particularly through banner ads. As a result, the information derived from cookies can also be saved and recorded by websites other than the one the user accesses directly (third-party cookies).

How do advertising cookies work?

Advertising (or profiling) cookies save information about the user’ browsing and can identify the user’s interests or website surfing in order to present relevant offers and information to the user. Therefore, such cookies enable companies to customise the advertising that the user will view depending on the actions carried out on the website visited, but also on other websites that rely on the same advertising management.

Social network sharing buttons (Facebook’s “Like”, Google’s “+1”, etc.) will equally enable DELFINGEN IT-Verona to follow the user and offer targeted advertising.

Social network cookies

A website page may contain elements originating from third parties, which enable the user to share specific content through social networks; these elements are the application buttons. Such buttons are “Share”, “Like”, “+1” , and “Tweet”, originating from social networks such as Facebook, Twitter or Google.

When the user goes to a page containing such buttons, the social network can associate this view with the user’s profile, even if the user does not click on the button and is not connected to this network! Therefore, the social network may adjust its advertising depending on the websites visited and propose “groups” in line with the interests identified by surfing the Internet. The social network may also suggest becoming a fan of the website page the user visits more frequently.

DELFINGEN IT-Verona asks every user to read the privacy policy of these social networks to know the purposes of use, including in particular advertising purposes, of the browsing data they may collect through these application buttons.

What do rules and regulations say in relation to cookies?

According to applicable rules and regulations, websites shall obtain the consent of each user before saving the cookies that are not “technical” or technical-like, indicating the purposes of such cookies and how the user may disable them. Basically, when first connecting to the website, a banner must appear to inform the user about the cookies used by the website and how the installation can be accepted or, conversely, rejected. The mere fact of visiting the page or continue surfing the website does not assume the user’s consent in any way.

How can the installation of cookies be blocked?

Advertising cookies or social network cookies are usually unnecessary to use the resources available on the Internet. If the user wishes to limit the collection of data regarding their activity, it is recommended that cookies be refused by default, directly from the user’s browser (see below). The installation of cookies may be blocked by rejecting cookies directly from the banner on the website.

In order to give or change consent, DELFINGEN IT-Verona shall ask every user to go back to the help menu by clicking on the following link or to their browser’s dedicated section, as follows:

How is it possible to know what are the cookies installed while surfing?

CNIL experts have developed a tool that the user can install in a few clicks, which is called “CookieViz”. CookieViz will allow real-time visualisation of the extent of the cookie activity and the number of those involved in the analysis of the user’s browsing.

Furthermore, in the tables below, for each type of cookie, we have indicated the cookies we specifically use, as well as their function, purpose, and amount of time for which we retain the information obtained.
